Pieter is a Reader (Associate Professor) in Economics at the University of East Anglia. His research focuses on applied micro, behavioural and labour economics, and political economy in low income countries. He teaches Microeconomics, Development Economics and Econometrics at the graduate and undergraduate level; he also co-direct the Masters in Development Economics. Pieter is also a Research Fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA), Research Associate at Oxford’s Centre for the Study of African Economies, Economics Department and Oxford Department for International Development, Full Member of the European Development Research Network (EUDN) and Evidence in Governance and Politics (EGAP) and executive member of the Center for Behavioural and Experimental Social Sciences (CBESS) at the University of East Anglia. His recent work has focused on returns to labor investment in developing countries.
